The Bake Box is a bakery I founded in Honduras in 2020. My passion for baking, along with the opportunity presented by COVID, led me to start this venture. Initially, I began by selling baked goods to friends and family, then expanded to a local market. This growth in orders and new customers prompted me to enhance my management strategies.
I launched Instagram and Facebook pages to showcase my products, announce market appearances, and provide ordering instructions. As my follower count grew, I started posting engaging content like behind-the-scenes videos, baking tutorials, and polls for customer feedback. This approach rapidly increased my following to over 200 and boosted sales within just three weeks.
When I moved to Spain to attend university, I had to close my business in Honduras. However, The Bake Box continued in Segovia, where I expanded my customer base by leveraging word-of-mouth and engaging friends who became enthusiastic supporters (and came over for free samples all the time). I gained over 150 followers quickly but eventually paused the business to focus on my studies.
Through this experience, I learned essential skills in starting and running a business, including effective communication with suppliers and customers, managing logistics for orders and deliveries, and marketing. I developed expertise in creating marketing strategies, community management, and content creation. Additionally, I provided large orders for charity organizations that collaborated with influencers to promote their events, which further increased my business’s visibility. These experiences gave me a solid foundation before entering the professional world.
